Choose Briggs & Little yarn by gauge

The names do not replace the pattern specification. Heritage and Durasport have different ply, composition and yardage; decide against the pattern’s gauge and care requirements, then confirm colour and enough of a matching dye lot.

What is the basic material difference?

Heritage is listed as two-ply 100% wool with 215 yards per skein. Durasport is one-ply 80% wool and 20% nylon with 430 yards per skein. A longer skein is not automatically a substitute for a different yarn gauge.

What should I ask about colour and quantity?

Screen swatches are approximate. State the required colour, yardage and intended pattern, then ask about dye lot and quantity. The selected product’s own knitting gauge is the useful comparison, not the mill name alone.

What does Canadian wool sourcing establish?

The mill says it buys Canadian fleeces. That supports a wool-sourcing connection; it does not establish the nylon’s origin in Durasport or every other component. Confirm the exact yarn’s care before choosing.
