The story & the craft.
NONIA’s history begins in 1920 with a programme connecting women’s knitting work to nurses in Newfoundland outports. That health function later moved to government, while the craft business continued. The current nonprofit brings hand-knit clothing from Newfoundland home knitters to a St. John’s shop and online customers, preserving a specific regional making connection without claiming a current nursing programme.
Its adult sweater collection includes sweaters and cardigans, while the accessory collection offers smaller pieces such as hats and mitts. Start with the garment you need, then compare the actual measurements and fibre description of the selected piece. The knitting network does not make every design or size interchangeable. Use the official business form if you want to ask about a particular piece or a special-order arrangement. Yarn origins and other stocked products require their own checks.
